I have recently been going through my archives and re-editing images from my third year at univeristy for an upcoming exhibition. I was surprised shocked at how I retouched the images….and I remember thinking I did pretty alright back then in 2006.

This one appears to show a tonal and contrast difference, I guess in this case it was a matter of taste. Although, my skin retouching in 2006 was not as good as it is now. And for the more obvious improvement:
At university my lecturers taught us to be careful of blown out whites and deep shadow. Really important to remember but I seemed to be a bit paranoid back in 2006 with my mid-tones obsession. The coat was black, but black was bad – you had to see detail no matter what. No more dodging shadows until a speckled, muddy grey…
Well one thing is it’s good to know you have improved over the years!
