I probably should mention that I applied for a UK visa while I was in Cape Town. What a mission it was, but I ended up getting it. ^^ Ill be on my way to the UK mid April. So I have about a month left in my Port Elizabeth home. I’ll miss this place…

Have another picture.

The Design Indaba Expo 2008

I was fortunate enough to be an exhibitor as an Emerging Creative at this years Design Indaba at the CTICC in Cape Town. The place was huge and filled with amazing talent. It had to be the best week of 2008 for me.

I tried to take as many photos as possible but my camera stopped working two days into the exhibition!

I shared a shall with Kristin, so I had someone to talk to while we had to man our stands from 10am to 6pm!
Met so many awesome people too.

Then and Now

I have recently been going through my archives and re-editing images from my third year at univeristy for an upcoming exhibition. I was surprised shocked at how I retouched the images….and I remember thinking I did pretty alright back then in 2006.
Here are a couple Ill share. (click the images for full size)

This one appears to show a tonal and contrast difference, I guess in this case it was a matter of taste. Although, my skin retouching in 2006 was not as good as it is now. And for the more obvious improvement:

At university my lecturers taught us to be careful of blown out whites and deep shadow. Really important to remember but I seemed to be a bit paranoid back in 2006 with my mid-tones obsession. The coat was black, but black was bad - you had to see detail no matter what. No more dodging shadows until a speckled, muddy grey…
Well one thing is it’s good to know you have improved over the years!
